Nielsen - Helios Overture Liszt - Piano Concerto No.1 Dvorak - Symphony No. 6
Music Director JoAnn Falletta returns to the podium to conduct the BPO in a program of intriguing contrasts. Franz Liszt's evocative Piano Concerto No.1 will feature award-winning virtuoso from Lithuania, Muza Rubackyte. After intermission the Orchestra will render Dvorak's Symphony No.6, a showcase of Bohemian luster and heartfelt intrigue.
Artist Profile
Muza Rubackyte made her professional piano debut at the age of 7 performing Haydn's D Major Concerto. At 13, she won Lithuania's National Young Artists competition allowing her admission to the renowned Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Upon graduation, she entered and won the Soviet Union's "All-Union" competition and became known as "One of the Soviet Union's best pianists". She traveled the length and breath of the Union appearing with all levels of orchestras from Uzbekistan to the great ensembles of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vilnius. There were special "under control" orchestral tours and recitals outside the Soviet Union where she performed under such noted maestri as Katchaturian, Jarvi, Gergiev, Jordania and Klas.
