Scott Bean  Biography
Scott Bean currently holds the position of Apprentice Conductor with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Assistant Conductor with the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra. Previously Scott was the Assistant Conductor with Hartt Symphony Orchestra at the University of Hartford, where he also directed the Hartt Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble and was also a frequent guest conductor the Hartt School's Contemporary Players Ensemble. Maestro Bean was also the founder and former Music Director of the Holberg Chamber Orchestra in Hartford, CT.
Since making his professional debut with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006, Scott Bean won the 2007 International Conductors Workshop, which led to a return engagement with the Macon Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, Maestro Kurt Masur, Music Director Emeritus for the New York Philharmonic, selected Scott to participate in a special orchestral conducting seminar at the Manhattan School of Music. In addition, Maestro Leonard Slatkin, Music Director for the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), also asked Bean to join him at his renowned National Conducting Institute with the NSO in Washington, D.C.
Maestro Bean guest conducted the 2007 Buffalo-Niagara TubaChristmas Ensemble, which benefited local musicians and raised money for music education for the Western New York community. Having a strong passion for arts education, Scott has developed and led numerous educational programs and speeches throughout the United States. His teachers and mentors have included Christopher Zimmerman, JoAnn Falletta, Gerald Floriano, Harold Farberman, Adrian Gnam and Gustav Meier. Bean is a graduate of the Hartt School at the University of Hartford (B.M., Music Ed., 2005 and M.M., Orch. Conducting, 2007). Scott and his wife Kristi currently reside in their native Buffalo, NY.
