WAGNER/Maazel - The Ring Without Words (with commentary, visuals and text)

The Ring, a cycle of four grand operas by Richard Wagner, is a mega-masterpiece without parallel in music. Music Director JoAnn Falletta will provide stage commentary on the various themes and characters of this work then conduct the BPO in a stunning all-orchestral recap of the thrilling saga, with defining snapshots from each of the operas. Among the highlights are Entry of the Gods into Valhalla from Das Rheingold (The Rhinegold), Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walküre (The Valkyrie), Forest Murmurs from Siegfried, and Siegfried's Rhine Journey and the Immolation Scene from Die Götterdämmerung (Twilight of the Gods). The mixed-media event will embellish the music with projected images and surtitles for the changing dramatic scenes.
