2021-22 Season FAQs
We have developed this frequently asked questions page to help answer many of your questions, and while we may not have all the answers at this time, we promise to work diligently to keep you, our valued patrons, well-informed. The BPO will continue to monitor the developing pandemic situation, and should any changes to the details below become necessary, they will be addressed in a future announcement. Please check back regularly. For now, please know how much we, and our wonderful musicians, appreciate your support of the BPO.
When will you announce the 2021-22 season?
Normally, we would be able to announce our new season in late winter/early spring. This year, there are still too many unknowns for that to occur, but we are hard at work creating a fantastic new season for you. Programming a full concert season is intricate work in the best of times. The pandemic adds an extra layer of meticulous planning necessary to account for guest artist availability, knowing just how many musicians we can safely present on our stage, and the impact that has on the repertoire we are able to perform.
Will the BPO perform for live audiences in the 2021-22 season?
The BPO was encouraged to hear Governor Cuomo’s announcement on March 3, 2021 regarding the reopening of venues with capacities less than 10,000. Our plan is to reopen for live audiences, following all local, state, and federal guidelines. It is unclear at this time what this will mean for the capacity of the concert hall this fall. Please check back soon for updates.
How will the BPO ensure my safety at live concerts?
We have developed a thorough reopening plan that takes the safety of everyone into consideration – musicians, staff, volunteers, and our audience. Please review our new safety protocols for live concerts.
Will virtual performances continue on the 2021-22 season?
As long as Kleinhans Music Hall is open at reduced capacity, we will be providing a live stream of Saturday evening BPO performances. Individual tickets for these live streams will be available for purchase. Please note: Live-streamed performances will only be available on the date and time indicated.
A new BPOnDemand virtual performance series is in development, which will include 10 select concerts on the 2021-22 season, a mix of both Classics and Pops. Both individual tickets and ticket packages for the series will be available for purchase. All BPOnDemand performances will be available on-demand for 30 days following their premiere.
Where can I find more information on the BPOnDemand virtual performance series?
Please visit our BPOnDemand page for more information.
Why isn’t every performance available on-demand?
We are thrilled to be able to welcome live audiences back to Kleinhans Music Hall. Doing so safely while presenting the world-class concert experience you have come to expect from your BPO needs to remain our #1 priority. Broadcasting orchestral performances is intricate work. We are excited to be able to continue to offer this option to our patrons near and far. We are committed to producing the best virtual performance experience possible, which takes extra time and care from our video production team. Rest assured, our 2021-22 BPOnDemand series will feature your BPO performing a wonderful selection of the best of Classics and Pops!
I’m a subscriber. When will I receive my subscription renewal information? What happens to my seats?
We hope to be able to mail subscription renewal materials by the summer, when more is known about the pandemic response and what it means for our live performances. We will continue to hold your subscription seats until we can return to full capacity in the concert hall. For live performances at reduced capacity, you will be given comparable seats as our most current seating map allows. You will also have the option to exchange your live concert ticket for a virtual ticket, should you choose.
When will individual tickets for the 2021-22 season go on sale?
We are planning for individual tickets to go on sale in August 2021. Please check back for details.
