Gershwin & Respighi
This concert pairs the rhythm and soul of America with the pictorial grandeur of Italy. George Gershwin’s Concerto in F comes alive under the touch of Joyce Yang, a pianist celebrated for her electrifying performances and depth of expression. Respighi’s Church Windows transports listeners to Italy with its rich, stained glass-inspired melodies, while Escales by Jacques Ibert is reminiscent of the culturally colorful sounds of exotic ports of call. Together, these pieces craft a narrative that spans continents and emotions, inviting the audience on a journey through jazz-infused streets and the echoing aisles of ancient cathedrals.
