Beethoven Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”
In a concert that navigates the landscapes of heroism, dreams, and the revolutionary, Dutch maestro Otto Tausk guides the orchestra through Wagenaar’s portrayal of the poetic and tragic Cyrano de Bergerac, followed by Edge of a Dream, Tim Fain’s reflective piece on hope amid adversity, composed during the recent global crisis. The evening culminates with Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” a work that redefined the symphony and expressed the composer’s disillusionment and ultimate triumph over personal and political turmoil. This program promises an exploration of the enduring human spirit through the lens of music.
