After a thorough nationwide search, the BPO is pleased to welcome Travis Estes as their new Vice President, Marketing & Communications. Estes will be coming to Buffalo in January from St. Louis, MO, where he has served as Marketing Director of Jazz St. Louis since 2020. Prior to this he spent eight years with the St. Louis Symphony, where he rose through the ranks and became Director of Digital Strategy.
Estes will be developing marketing and communications strategies to increase attendance of the 120 concerts the BPO presents each year, managing and collaborating with the orchestra’s marketing and communications staff to achieve this goal.
BPO President & Executive Director Daniel Hart comments on the addition of Estes: “We are very excited to bring Travis to Buffalo to join our team. Throughout the interview process he revealed himself to be a consummate marketing professional, full of experience, ideas, and creativity. He is the right person to lead our marketing effort at this critical juncture as we build audiences for the future.”
Complementary to his arts administration experience, Estes has a background in theater, and of course, is an avid fan of music. He speaks about his favorites Dmitri Shostakovich, Thelonious Monk, and David Bowie with equal passion and has a deep belief in the ability of art to transcend all differences.
On his move to Buffalo, Estes remarks, “I am beyond thrilled to join the legendary JoAnn Falletta and the great Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. I see the artistic direction of the BPO and the fervor of the musicians reflected in the vibrant – and growing – Buffalo art scene. Buffalo is very fortunate in this respect, and I look forward with great anticipation to joining the community and playing my part in advancing the BPO to future generations.”
