Through a variety of programming, the BPO provides fantastic learning opportunities for all people.
We are proud to work with music educators, supporting administrators and community partners each year to expand the musical opportunities for Western New York’s young people. The cornerstone of the BPO’s educational outreach is the Music for Youth Concert Series, serving PreK-12th grade students. These concerts are supported by Curriculum Resources developed and curated by the BPO’s team of music educators.
The BPO recognizes the need to support music educators through professional development and community advocacy as well. On Monday, Feb. 4, the BPO is bringing arts education expert Eric Booth to Western New York for a full day of activities. From 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, the BPO will host a Symposium on Music in Our Schools geared towards school administrators, featuring an interactive Druminar, a talk by Booth, and more. From 6 to 8 PM, Booth will speak at the family-friendly WNY Music Education Advocacy Night to provide teachers, administrators, and parents with the tools they need to effectively advocate for music education during the 2019-2020 school budget planning season and beyond. BPO Teaching Artists will also be present, and dinner and activities will be provided.
We also offer programs that bring BPO musicians into the classrooms and create intimate learning environments with our guest artists. Please visit For Educators and For Young Musicians pages for more information.
The BPO also offers educational programming for wider audiences. Whether it is our West Side neighborhood school connections, our sensory friendly programming or our opportunities for adult amateur musicians, the BPO is committed to enriching our musical community. Please visit our Community page for more information.
