This new offering for PreK and Kindergarten learners introduces our littlest concertgoers to the orchestra and the magic of live music. The performance takes place in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans for a more intimate experience and includes music, movement, and singing with the full orchestra and a guide. Explore the basic building blocks of music: high and low, loud and soft, fast and slow, in this interactive program featuring music by Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn, and more.

This program aligns with Common Core Learning Standards for ELA and Literacy.

What makes a successful performance at the BPO? The people! Explore how each person has an important role in the BPO community including the musicians, conductor, composers, staff, and especially the audience! Learn how the instruments work together and investigate the roles of the conductor and the composer. This program encourages active listening skills and will show that a musical community succeeds when everyone works together.

This program aligns with Common Core Learning Standards for ELA and Literacy and NYS Social Studies Standards.

How do musicians and composers create meaning through music? Whether it is communicating an emotion or feeling, telling a story, or interpreting a musical statement, musicians, conductors and composers are masters of the art of expression. Through active listening, students will investigate the tools of this musical language, and become creators of meaning themselves.
