The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes members of the World Doctors Orchestra and other international medical organizations to a unique side-by-side musical experience. After hosting this program in 2014, 2016 and 2018, we are thrilled to bring it back in 2024!

Sunday, November 3
All day | Arrive in Buffalo, check in to The Richardson Hotel at 444 Forest Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14213. |
5-6:30pm | Evening welcome reception at The Clement House, home to the Buffalo Philharmonic’s staff offices at 786 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209 Please note that the Red Cross also has offices here, so maps will often indicate this instead of BPO. |

9am | Welcome and orientation, Kleinhans Music Hall, located at 1 Symphony Circle, Buffalo, NY 14201. Restaurant space downstairs, coffee service provided. Parking in the lot next to the Hall is always free. |
10am-12pm | Rehearsal with participants (no BPO) with guest conductor Brent Chancellor, Main Hall. Please bring your practice parts. |
12pm | Lunch, restaurant space downstairs |
1-2:15pm | Sectionals with BPO coaches, please bring your practice parts – Strings in Mary Seaton Room (with Amy Glidden), Woodwinds in Livingston Hall (with Anna Mattix), Brass in restaurant space (with Seth Rawleigh), Percussion on main stage (with Mark Hodges) |
3-5 pm | Free tour/gallery time and reception at Buffalo AKG Art Museum (optional) at 1285 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222. Tour from 3-4 with a casual reception and gallery time from 4-5. For details please see here. |

Doctors of the World with the BPO

In partnership with John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital and Kaleida Health, the concert on Wednesday, November 6th will benefit the Oishei Healing Arts Program. Gifts at the door of crayons, coloring books, or other art supplies to benefit pediatric patients is greatly appreciated. Concert Dress
Black suit with a white dress shirt and tie; OR black top with ¾ or elbow-length sleeves and black or dark-colored skirt, slacks, or dress that reach the ankles while seated. Black socks or hosiery and black closed-toe shoes are required for all dress codes.
Please avoid the following: denim, corduroy, metallic fabric, leggings, leotards, or tee shirts. Unobtrusive jewelry may be worn. Do not wear perfume or cologne at any rehearsal or performance.

SEATING:
Participants will be seated with a BPO member who shares your part. All solos default to participants, unless you would like support from the BPO member. They are there to help!
String participants will be seated on the outside of each stand, partnered with a BPO member.

Music director JoAnn Falletta has indicated the following minor cuts in the Rachmaninoff (all cuts are indicated in the supplied parts):

Hotel
We have reserved a block of rooms at the beautiful Richardson Hotel, a National Historic Landmark, which is about 2 miles from Kleinhans Music Hall and is located across the street from the AKG Museum and the Burchfield Penney Art Center.

This block of rooms will be released on September 20th, so please book before that time. If you would like to book additional nights before or after our program, please make a separate reservation (it will be a different price) and then let the hotel know to link your reservations together.
