DESCRIPTION:$9.00 \nReserve Seats \n  \nUsing a variety of musical selections this youth concert tackles the topics of respect\,\npersonal responsibility\, cooperation and community\, all through the orchestra. The BPO\nhas a unique platform for this topic: 73 individual voices all working together to create\na beautiful sound. This concert also features selections from Leonard Bernstein’s famous\nWest Side Story\, a musical known for its powerful story about the impacts of intolerance. \nThis program aligns with New York State Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA and Literacy and NYS Social Studies Standards.

DESCRIPTION:$9.00 \nReserve Seats \n  \n  \nJoAnn Falletta\, conductor\nSimone Porter\, violin \nBUTTERWORTH  The Banks of Green Willow\nBRUCH  Scottish Fantasy\nBRAHMS  Symphony No. 1 in C minor \nTwo English folk songs form George Butterworth’s idyllic The Banks of Green Willow\, premiered just two years before the promising young composer’s demise in the trenches of World War I. German Max Bruch\, captivated by Scottish traditions\, wove these melodies into his violin showpiece\, Scottish Fantasy. Meanwhile\, Brahms’ expressive Symphony No. 1\, finely dubbed “Beethoven’s Tenth\,” gestated for 22 years due to his remarkable perfectionism.
