We\u2019re celebrating the 200th<\/sup> anniversary of the Erie Canal, which played a key role in making New York the \u201cEmpire State.\u201d This concert will explore four principal elements of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, and timbre. Through music by diverse composers, students will learn how each element is built to create symphonic music, just as the canal created a beautiful community where we all live. As we journey along the Erie Canal, we\u2019ll discover how it shaped the past, and what it means for the future.<\/p>\n
