Bach, Beethoven & Beyond

This performance replaces Beethoven’s Fifth, originally scheduled for Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21.

An early 20th century composer has a grand master to thank in this classics program conducted by JoAnn Falletta. J. S. Bach’s extraordinary and familiar Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 was an inspiration for Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks, and Beethoven’s early fame as a young composer was augmented with his Septet. Contemporary American composer, Robert Merfeld’s sensitive and evocative Suite for Solo Viola was written during the pandemic shutdown in the spring of 2020.

This performance is part of our BPOnDemand video-streamed series. There will be no live audience at Kleinhans Music Hall for this performance. For more information on BPOnDemand, please visit our 2020-21 season FAQ page.

All 2020-21 subscribers receive FREE access to BPOnDemand performances, but must register in advance. Please contact the Box Office at (716) 885-5000 or boxoffice@bpo.org to register for this event.
