Deborah Greitzer: Music is Not a Universal Language
BPOvations at the Libraries
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, in cooperation with the Buffalo & Erie County Public Libraries, presents free talks given by BPO musicians that offer an intimate look inside the BPO while providing a basis of knowledge about the orchestral world.
In addition to playing in the BPO’s first violin section, Deborah Greitzer has traveled the world to play and teach. She has played string quartets for Syrian refugees in Za’atari Refugee Camp, taught in Haiti for more than ten years and performed and taught in Thailand, Cuba, Curacao, and Peru. These experiences have led her to understand that, although music is not always an international language easily understood by all, sharing music can bridge the divide between cultures.
