Gerard Schwarz Conducts Brahms
Renowned conductor Gerard Schwarz presents a program of thrilling favorites and new surprises. Take a nautical adventure with the overture to Wagner’s maritime melodrama, The Flying Dutchman. A special treat, Gerard welcomes his son, Julian Schwarz, who takes on the tremendous Cello Concerto by Arthur Foote, to be later recorded in studio with the BPO for NAXOS. Finally, we present Brahms’ Third, the shortest of his symphonies, which has long been a favorite of classical music connoisseurs. Clara Schumann commented that one is “surrounded from beginning to end by the mysterious magic of life in the forest,” and Antonín Dvořák wrote, “It is love pure and simple, and on hearing it your heart overflows.”
