New Music Readings and Reception

Free

All music was once new.  Come attend this exciting opportunity to hear new music take shape “before your ears.”

In partnership with EarShot, the national orchestral composition discovery network, the BPO presents an open reading of several brand new works by emerging composers. The composers themselves will be in attendance, along with mentor composers Robert Beaser, Chen Yi and Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, as part of a two-day residency culminating in this open reading.  Stay afterwards for a post-reading reception where you can meet and talk with the composers themselves.

Featured compositions and composers (pictured above):

Ladybug In the Room by SiHyun Uhm
The Facts and Dreams of the World According to Michael Jackson
by Vincent Calianno
Door to the River by Sid Richardson
The Castle Upon Crystal Shores by Sakari Vanderveer

EarShot curates connections between orchestras and emerging composers. Drawing from a national network of advisors and advocates, EarShot works with orchestras around the country to identify and support promising composers in the early stages of their careers. EarShot is a partnership between the American Composers Orchestra, League of American Orchestras, American Composers Forum, and New Music USA.
