Portraits of England
Gemma New, music director of the Hamilton (Ontario) Philharmonic and breakout star in the world of conducting, leads two works by influential British composers in this jolly-good performance. Benjamin Britten paints evocative seascapes in his Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, and Edward Elgar‘s Enigma Variations depicts miniature portraits of his family and friends. Jeremy Gill contributes a contemporary Concerto for 4 Hands, performed by pianists Orion Weiss and Anna Polonsky in their return engagement with the BPO.
Come at 9:30 AM on Friday for complimentary coffee and doughnuts. On Saturday, come at 7 PM to hear directly from the artists in “Musically Speaking.”
