Dreams, Dances & Variations
The lyrical violin concerto of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges is performed by young virtuoso Randall Goosby, a former winner of the Sphinx Concerto Competition for Black and Latinx artists. The program also celebrates the ground-breaking achievements of Zwilich, the first female to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music, a sensual dreamscape by Debussy, and Mozart’s enchanting yet spirited symphony.

Havana Nights
Trumpeter, arranger, and conductor, Jeff Tyzik, currently serves as Principal Pops Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Known for his inventive programming, this concert recreates a sultry, passionate evening of Latin music from Cuba, Spain, and Argentina, from steamy tangos to seductive ballads.

JoAnn Falletta Conducts Haydn
Your BPO presents three works linked by a theme of remembrance: Arensky's Theme and Variations in memory of his colleague and mentor, Piotr Tchaikovsky; Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony for Strings, inspired by his visit to the ruins of Dresden after WWII; and Haydn's yearning and dissonant Symphony No. 44.

Beethoven & Strauss
Piano phenom Ray Ushikubo returns to perform Beethoven’s youthful, imaginative, first full-length orchestral piece, contrasted by the subdued resignation of Richard Strauss’ sunset years and Metamorphosen, and the pulsating Spanish rhythms of Turina’s tone poem.

Handel & Mozart
Handel’s grandiose interlude music to his choral works is an audience favorite, and BPO concertmaster Nikki Chooi performs Mozart's witty and blissful violin concerto. English hornist Anna Mattix undertakes Ulysses Kay's profoundly beautiful Pietà. Jacques Ibert's high-spirited Divertissement completes the program.

20th Century Titans
Three celebrated composers highlight a program depicting themes of love, loss, and renewal. Respighi’s Triptych was inspired by works of Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli. Blake Pouliot performs Bernstein’s violin masterpiece, and the haunting chords of Barber’s Adagio capture not only despair but an accompanying glimmer of hope.
