Bach, Beethoven & Beyond
An early 20th century composer has a grand master to thank in this classic program conducted by JoAnn Falletta. J. S. Bach’s extraordinary and familiar Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 was an inspiration for Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks, and Beethoven’s early fame as a young composer was augmented with his Septet.

Baroque Fireworks
Baroque is front and center as JoAnn Falletta conducts Handel’s Water Music Suite No. 2, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, and Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in C minor played by principal oboist Henry Ward. Your BPO Brass plays an exciting work by Giovanni Gabrieli, and soloists Alex Jokipii and Geoff Hardcastle perform on a Vivaldi Trumpet Concerto rare for the early 18th century. Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3 completes the program.
