Themes of love, loss, and renewal highlight a program featuring virtuoso Blake Pouliot performing iconic composer Leonard Bernstein’s violin masterpiece, musically interpreting Plato’s Symposium and the varied meanings of love. Respighi’s Triptych was inspired by works of Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli, and American Wayne Barlow’s The Winter’s Passed seems a perfect metaphor for the challenging time we are leaving behind.

Vaughan Williams’ popular treatment of a 16th-century Renaissance chant is paired with the contemporary reworking of an iconic masterpiece using primarily strings and percussion.
