SUMMARY:Haydn Cello Concerto
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nThe powerful\, tense chords of Sibelius’ patriotic Finlandia open a program filled with nationalistic pride. The orchestration is stirring\, powerful\, and yet restrained at times—evocative of the fact that the symphonic poem was written as the composer’s “battle hymn” for Finland as it faced political opposition. Haydn’s lyrically virtuosic Cello Concerto No. 2 follows—regarded as one of the greatest works for cello of the Classical era—sparkling and singing under talented young star Sterling Elliott’s fingers. Grieg’s four charming Symphonic Dances\, inspired by Norwegian folk songs\, close the program with jaunty rhythms and folk-dance melodies that played a key role in formalizing Norway’s national identity. \nRune Bergmann\, conductor\nSterling Elliott\, cello \nSIBELIUS  Finlandia\nHAYDN  Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major\nGRIEG  Symphonic Dances[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css=””][vc_raw_html css=””]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Carmina Burana
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As the first of a trilogy of cantatas\, Orff’s irreverent Carmina Burana draws from a 13th century compilation of medieval vagabond songs and poems detailing fate’s fickleness\, pagan delights\, and corruption. The primitivistic piece enraptures audiences with its hypnotic sensuality\, preoccupation with a chant-like and ritualistic style\, and powerful rhythms. Fantastic solo voices joined by the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus sing of the full range of human love\, from pining to ecstatic and more. Hindemith’s reworked Symphonic Dances complete the program\, which emerged from discarded ballet collaborations. Challenging counterpoint as well as soft\, dignified passages constitute this Neo-Classical piece written in a tumultuous era of history. \nJoAnn Falletta\, conductor\nSara LeMesh\, soprano\nKameron Lopreore\, tenor\nJoshua Conyers\, baritone\nBuffalo Philharmonic Chorus \nHINDEMITH  Symphonic Dances\nORFF  Carmina Burana[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css=””][vc_raw_html css=””]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Carmina Burana
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As the first of a trilogy of cantatas\, Orff’s irreverent Carmina Burana draws from a 13th century compilation of medieval vagabond songs and poems detailing fate’s fickleness\, pagan delights\, and corruption. The primitivistic piece enraptures audiences with its hypnotic sensuality\, preoccupation with a chant-like and ritualistic style\, and powerful rhythms. Fantastic solo voices joined by the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus sing of the full range of human love\, from pining to ecstatic and more. Hindemith’s reworked Symphonic Dances complete the program\, which emerged from discarded ballet collaborations. Challenging counterpoint as well as soft\, dignified passages constitute this Neo-Classical piece written in a tumultuous era of history. \nJoAnn Falletta\, conductor\nSara LeMesh\, soprano\nKameron Lopreore\, tenor\nJoshua Conyers\, baritone\nBuffalo Philharmonic Chorus \nHINDEMITH  Symphonic Dances\nORFF  Carmina Burana[/vc_column_text][vc_separator css=””][vc_raw_html css=””]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[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row]
