The BPO has a number of exciting volunteer opportunities available. Positions include gift shop workers, drivers, ushers, administrative work, fundraising activities and assistance with special events.
BPO Volunteer Drivers
Help the BPO and meet our guest artists by:
- Picking artists up at the airport, or taking them to the airport for their return flight
- Driving the artist to or from their rehearsals
- Driving the artist to or from their performances
BPO volunteer drivers are rewarded with complimentary tickets, subject to current policy.
Volunteer to be a BPO usher — flexible hours and free BPO performances!
The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performs Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons, with the occasional Friday morning and/or evening.
Usher responsibilities include:
- Escorting patrons to their seats
- Ensuring that later arrivals do not disturb the performance
- Assisting those with special needs
- Answering any questions patrons may have

Friends of the BPO
Friends of the BPO is a volunteer organization that supports the BPO by staffing and organizing volunteer ushers, drivers, gift shop attendants, lobby greeters, and coat check attendants. Friends of the BPO also offers administrative and concert support, and provides volunteers to serve coffee at the Friday morning concerts. The organization also hosts fundraising events, like the annual favorite the Joy of Music and Wine, as well as flower and plant sales, fashion shows, and more. Volunteers are welcome as leaders and workers for all types of support activities. What happens behind the scenes of a world-class symphony orchestra?
