Ney
Country of Origin: Saudi Arabia
Instrument Family: Woodwind
The ney is a type of flute that has been played for thousands of years in ancient Egypt, making it one of the oldest musical instruments in existence. It consists of a hollow cylinder with fingerholes. It is much more difficult to play than the modern flute because the blowhole remains open, with the lips almost covering the rim.
