Day One – Wednesday, May 10, 2017
Today you will depart from your home airport and then take your flight to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Upon arrival, proceed to the Condado Vanderbilt in San Juan (You may coordinate airport transfers through The Travel Team). You will check in to your suite and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure.
Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect Whitney Warren in 1919, after a $200 million renovation, today its true grandeur and elegance are reclaimed as the ultra-luxury Condado Vanderbilt Hotel. From its inception, the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel was created for those who wish to experience a luxurious oceanfront getaway while having the city at their feet. Comprised of three interconnected buildings: the original Spanish Revival building dates back to 1919 and it has been meticulously renovated to its original shine. Day Two – Thursday, May 11, 2017
Old San Juan Historical Driving and Shopping Tour with Private Guide
A definite “must do” while visiting Puerto Rico. Upon your arrival to the Old City, your first stop is at the San Cristobal Fort for a short tour and photo shoots. Driving through the Old City, some of the historical sites that will be seen are El Morro Fort, San Jose Church, El Convento, San Juan Cathedral and Capilla del Cristo. Your second stop is at Paseo la Princesa including a walk to see the entrance of the San Juan Bay Harbor. Then it’s off to Plaza de Armas for a shopping spree, visiting artisan shops as well as the outlet stores on Cristo Street.

Set sail upon a sunset cruise. Amazing Grace is a topsail schooner representative of the traditional American sailing crafts. These were the small vessels that fought the British in the War of Independence and again in 1812, both as ships of the U.S. Navy and as privateers. Many privateer vessels fought the pirates and were even captured, eventually be used by the pirates themselves. This beautiful sailing vessel flies seven sails that can be used in different combinations to suit the wind conditions. Departing from Old San Juan cruise port, you will take in the beautiful views of our Historical City while sailing along the Bay, listening to an interacting narrated story of nearly 500 years. Or you can indulge in the Caribbean sunset with magical and romantic views of Old San Juan from the water in the early evening with music, appetizers and drinks.

Day Three – Friday, May 12, 2017
Camuy Caves and Arecibo Observatory Tour
Depart for Camuy Caves and Arecibo Observatory Tour. This tour takes you to the northwestern part of the island. Camuy Cave Park is known as one of the most massive cave networks in this hemisphere. Recently, two craterlike sinkholes and caves within this network have been beautifully developed. The caverns are easily visited with modern trolley cars taking you down the entrance of the caves. You will then enjoy a guided tour of the great cavern system seeing the Underground River as well as huge stalagmites and rocky ravines. You are then escorted back to the trolleys to the upper level where you can purchase refreshments and souvenirs before your return to San Juan. Departure is early in the morning, returning midafternoon.
After the caves, we will be on our way to the Arecibo Observatory, which features the world’s largest radar/radio telescope and is operated by Cornell University. The Observatory is conducting groundbreaking astronomy work, including the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) program. A 20-acre radar dish, with a 600-ton suspended platform hovering over it, sits in an impressive 565-foot deep sinkhole while it examines planets and monitors natural radio emissions from distant galaxies, pulsars and quasars….all from Arecibo!
Enjoy lunch at a traditional Puerto Rican restaurant. Return to the hotel and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure.

Day Four – Saturday, May 13, 2017
El Yunque Rainforest Tour Depart for El Yunque Rainforest tour. You will experience a drive through a typical native towns going to El Yunque Rainforest. There, you will see lush tropical vegetation, wild orchids, giant ferns, tropical hardwoods, and waterfalls. You will stop at La Coca Falls for photo shoots, then on to Yokahú Tower for a fantastic view of the north coastline. There also will be a twenty-minute guided walk on Caimitillo Trail through the forest to view the flora and fauna in this natural wonder. After you visit the Rainforest, there will be a stop at local fruit stand to purchase fresh fruits and beverages then returning back to the hotel.
Stop for lunch before returning to the hotel.

Dinner at Oceano. Nestled on a stunning beachfront property that juts towards the ocean, Oceano combines the warmth of a Caribbean getaway with the vibrant energy of South Beach.
An Evening with JoAnn Falletta
After dinner, you will be transferred to the Puerto Rico Symphony for the concert conducted by Maestro JoAnn Falletta. Concert to include Barber: School for Scandal Overture; Barber: Cello Concerto; Elgar: Enigma Variations; Jay Campbell, cello.
Day Five – Sunday, May 14, 2017
The tour is limited to 26 people. Reservations accepted on a first reserved basis.
