BPO Ovation Series – Applause-Worthy Moments for Donors
The BPO Ovation Series is our way of applauding you all season long. Each month of the 25/26 season, donors giving $150 or more are invited to a unique event; free to attend but priceless in experience. From behind-the-scenes moments to intimate musical encounters, each gathering is designed to bring you closer to your Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. New events will be posted here about 6–8 weeks in advance. Check back often so you don’t miss a single standing ovation.
Behind the Scenes: Conducting Batman (1989) in Concert
with Ron Spigelman, BPO Principal Pops Conductor
Friday, March 13 | 2:30pm
Kleinhans Music Hall
Join us for a rare behind-the-scenes experience exploring how a film-in-concert performance comes together. Guests will be welcomed into Kleinhans Music Hall to observe the final hour of rehearsal for the BPO’s presentation of Batman (1989), offering a firsthand look at the coordination and focus required to perform live to film.
Following the rehearsal, BPO Pops Conductor Ron Spigelman will speak with attendees for approximately 30 to 45 minutes, sharing insights into how conductors synchronize with on-screen action, shape Danny Elfman’s iconic score in real time, and prepare an orchestra for this uniquely demanding art form. The session will include time for questions and conversation.
This event takes place one day before the BPO’s performance of Batman in Concert, offering a deeper perspective for those planning to attend the film presentation.
This Ovation Series event is limited to 25 participants and advance registration is required.
