BPO 90th Anniversary Celebration
JoAnn Falletta, conductor
Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus
BEETHOVEN Overture to Egmont
DEBUSSY Nocturnes
BRAHMS Symphony No. 3 in F major
Celebrate the BPO’s 90th anniversary with a program that echoes the orchestra’s inaugural concert in 1935. The evening begins with Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, a piece brimming with heroism and struggle, before moving into the mystical world of Debussy’s Nocturnes, inspired by James Whistler’s art. The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus adds its voices to the rich tapestry of sound. Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 closes the night, a work of profound emotional range that explores themes of joy, despair, and tranquility. This concert not only honors the past but looks forward to the future of music-making in Buffalo.
