Rev. Melody I. Rutherford BPO Diversity Council Co-Chair

Rev. Melody Irene Rutherford is the full time chaplain at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her ministry includes being Palliative Care Chaplain and working with patients and families making end of life decisions. She has many years of experience in healthcare in such areas as chaplaincy services, clinical pastoral education, and mission services. Melody serves as an Associate Minister at a local suburban church and frequently is the invited speaker at churches and conferences throughout the WNY area. Since 1992, she has served in a wide range of ministry opportunities including host of a live Christian radio broadcast. Having held leadership positions within the music and arts ministries, she has written and directed gospel plays and even facilitated worship services at a private elementary school. A graduate of SUNY Empire State College Forum Management Program holding a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business (with a concentration in Organizational Communications), Rev. Rutherford also earned a Masters of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) from Northeastern Seminary and Masters of Science in Management Degree (MSM) from Excelsior College. Currently, she serves as co-chair for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Diversity Council expressing the main objective of welcoming and affirming the presence of all to enjoy the entirety of the BPO’s offerings. Melody is the wife of Rev. Rodney Rutherford and together they are the proud parents of three adult children, Rodney (Krystal), Chloe (Shaquille) and Joy Irene.
