Music for Youth: Instruments of the World – Drum Kit

Drum Kit

State of Origin: Louisiana, USA
Instrument Family: Percussion

During the early 1900s, companies began developing commercially marketable drum set equipment, from pedals to snare drums, brushes, and even entire kits. The music that developed in the American South (New Orleans, Louisiana in particular) — ragtime and early jazz — popularized use of the drum kit to aid in the rhythmically-influenced music of the era.
